Triton Cockatoos are magnificent birds native to New Guinea. They are large birds totaling 18 inches in length. Triton Cockatoos Tritons can learn to talk but the real charm is their affectionate and loyal nature. Umbrella Cockatoos Also known as White-Crested Cockatoos, are completely white. Along their exterior, top feathers and have a delicate shade of yellow beneath their wings and tail feathers. With a pure white, exceptionally wide crest that is normally flat against the head, the Umbrella Cockatoo unfolds it's feathers in a dramatic display much to the delight of their fans and owners, this being the origin of the name, "Umbrella". birds! Goffin Cockatoos The Goffin's Cockatoo or Tanimbar Cockatoo, Cacatua goffini, is a species of cockatoo native to Indonesia. Its body is covered in white feathers, with peachy colored feathers near its face and a yellowish tinge on its tail. They have brown eyes, each with a blue eyelid.
The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Cacatua galerita, is one of the larger and more widespread of Australia's cockatoos. Frequently sought as a cage bird in other countries, in Australia they can be so numerous that in places they are shot or poisoned as pests. Gang-gang Cockatoo The Gang-gang Cockatoo, Callocephalon fimbriatum , is member of the cockatoo family. It is a shy, mostly-grey parrot of Australian alpine bushland. The male has a red head and crest while the female has a small fluffy grey crest. It ranges through out South Eastern Australia and Tasmania. The Gang-gang cockatoo is the faunal emblem of the Australian Capital Territory. Little Corella The Little Corella, Cacatua sanguinea, is a white cockatoo native to Australia. It is 36 to 39cm in length and congregates in flocks of up to thousands of birds, often with Galahs mixed in. It generally perches in trees overnight and flies off, with an almost deafening screeching, in the early morning to feed. It mostly feeds on the ground, eating seeds including grain crops such as wheat and barley. It is common, to the point of being something of a pest, in much of Australia. It can be destructive to the trees in which it perches, chewing the bark off smaller twigs. |
